I am becoming!

Have you ever heard of that term “every problem has a solution?” I must admit that of late I have felt like every solution has a problem. The interesting thing is without problems how do you become the person you are destined to be.

My mother told me something a few months ago. She said, “Son, we do not believe in fairy tales. Life is not meant to be easy. You have to fight for what you want and when it comes to a relationship you have to be patient and learn each other.” That was such wisdom. I hit some roadblocks before and after hearing this wisdom but I realize today I am becoming.

I am becoming the man of God who God has intended for me to be. Not the man of God the world wants me to be. I am becoming the husband God has intended for me to be. Not the husband the world wants me to be. I am becoming the friend God has intended for me to be. Not the friend the world wants me to be. I am becoming the partner God has intended for me to be. Not the partner the world wants me to be.

In order to become, we have to go through some valley experiences but with every valley comes a mountaintop experience. The past few weeks I have been in the valley however, by faith I can see the top of the mountain and what I am becoming.  See, without the valley experiences I am unable to become who I am truly destined to be.

I read an article and saw the video of 9-year-old Quaden Bayles who wanted to kill himself due to being bullied because of a condition he has called achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism. In the video, he asks for a knife so he can kill himself. His mother says her son previously attempted suicide. This hit home for me because I to tried to take my own life twice, once at 18 and the second at 19 which was almost successful. I can admit those thoughts came back due to a situation I was in that was causing me great pain. Those thoughts had not come to me since God healed me over 20 years ago. Today I realize I am becoming not only for Quaden Bayles but also for all the others out there that have experienced bullying, mistreatment by others, manipulation, etc. When God gave me The Voice Within Ministries, it was in order to help those who felt as though they did not have a voice. Those who were considered the outcast. My dream is to spend the rest of the time God gives me on this earth to help those who feel as though they do not have a voice find their voice. To help those become who God truly created them to be. To help the underdogs know they are not the tail but the head. To be the voice for those who feel as though they do not have a voice. To stand with people who have been abused, bullied and mistreated by others.

I definitely have had my share of heartache and pain but if God can use that heartache and pain to allow me to become a voice for His people it was all worth it. It might not feel like it today but each passing day will get easier and easier. Like Quaden and all the others that have been bullied or mistreated, we are eagles. My favorite scripture is: “He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:29-31 NKJV)

Let us continue to keep on becoming who we are destined to be.
